Janet Roderigues, who struggled with dementia, wandered away from the rest home she lived in on Sunday, April 2, and was found unresponsive three days later at Buttonwood Park in New Bedford, according to the Dartmouth Police Department.

Janet was a nature lover, according to her obituary. She loved horses, flowers, and spending time outdoors as well as painting and coloring.

The missing woman's daughter, Sonyia Roderiques, took to Facebook to thank the community that supported her family.

"I can not possibly reach out to every single person individually, because I would be here for months," Sonyia wrote in a post shared by the Dartmouth Police Department. "I would like to thank everyone, family, friends, and complete strangers, who has shared the posts about my Mom being missing, all who helped in the searches."

Janet died for "unknown reasons" after being found at the park in New Bedford, according to a GoFundMe set up to finance her funeral costs.

"We are extremely fortunate to have been surrounded by such a selfless community in this unfortunate event," the GoFundMe campaign description read.

Funds raised will go towards Janet's funeral costs.

A notable show of support came in the form of a stranger in a Marshall's store who overheard Sonyia speaking on the phone and "selflessly" paid for the funeral clothes she was buying for her mother.

"The entire community all came together in my darkest hour," Sonyia wrote.
